Lake Hiawatha Fire Department

Memorial Day Parade 30 May 2005

The township of Parsippany Troy Hills honors the memory of Americas Military with a service at Veterans Park followed by a parade. The Military Fraternities such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars, The American Legion and The Military Order of the Purple Heart (to name a few) all participate. Historic Preservationists who display their personally owned and maintained Military vehicles and equipment are also on hand to honor the fallen. Bands, Civic organizations and the Public Safety units also participate. The parade is a silent event to honor our departed, there are no sirens, and the procession is quiet (with the exception of the bands) as it is a solemn day.

As the parade occurs in Lake Hiawatha we are the first fire district in the parade and we follow the military organizations so regrettably we do not have pictures of the fine men and women who have served our country or of the equipment that helped them do their job. For the same reason we did not get pictures of District 5 Fire Department.

The Firefighters would like to thank all our friends and neighbors who loudly cheered for us as we marched.

The Firefighters get ready to march in the parade.
The men of District 1 go by the Lake hiawatha Firehouse on their Aerial. District one Serves the Mount Tabor Section of town which is located in the South West corner of Parsippany.
Mary Lubrano, Wife of Past Chief Vince Lubrano marches by with the Parsippany Womens Club.

The Rockaway Neck Volunteer First Aid Squad, also know as "Car 66", serves the northern half of town and is Headquartered in Lake Hiawatha by Volunteers Park. The men of LHFD would like to complement them on their white over red color scheme.
Unfortunately we do not know their full name but they are a Panamanian band from NY. They have participated in our parade for several years now and they are very talented. Looking good guys!

The Parsippany Volunteer Ambulance Squad responds as "Car 65" here in Parsippany. They cover everything South of 46 and West of the Jersey City Reservoir. They are Headquartered in the Lake Parsippany section of town on Parsippany Road.

Green Firetrucks? It can mean only one thing! Our Brothers and Sisters from District 3 are driving by. They serve the Lake Parsippany community with these incredibly bright trucks. What they lack in red pain they make up for in sparkling personality.
What is a parade without patiotic songs? It's nothing but a walk through town! Thanks to these musicians for making the parade.

The Department of Public Works, Ably led by Director Ron Kulig (A Past Chief of the Lake Hiawatha Fire Department) in his Golden Jeep Cherokee

District 6 serves, well pretty much all of parsippany, they divide it right in half seperating District 4 and 5 on the East from District 1, 2 & 3 on the west.
The last band of the day goes by, taking the brunt of the sun which has steadily climbed on this beautiful spring day.
The last truck of the parade, a street cleaner of course. Ably driven by Robert Mancuso a Life Member of the Lake Hiawatha Fire Department.
Charlie Sonzogni, son of Assistant Chief Adam Sonzogni, obviously enjoyed the parade.
